Genesis seeks a self-starter, with a high mechanical aptitude, that is ready to dive into automating the construction industry.


This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas. Position includes company paid benefits (health, dental, disability).


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Program, setup, and operate multi-axis CNC mills and lathes
  • Maintain and organize machine shop tooling and components
  • Setup and operate a manual mill and lathe
  • Tool and die making with the ability to design and build custom fixtures and jigs
  • Maintain coolant, oils, perform basic repairs, and keep machines clean and in an operable and reliable state
  • Use 3D and 2D CAD/CAM Software such as Siemens NX, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360 to view and or extract components from solid model assemblies to generate toolpaths and detailed drawings
  • Inspect all machined components to ensure engineering specifications were met
  • Maintain awareness of new ideas in processes, tools, methods, etc. and apply them effectively to machining and manufacturing.
  • Work with Engineering to provide crucial input and emphasis on design for manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot designs and manufacturing methods
  • Work with minimal supervision with limited detailed drawings or blueprints. Must be able to interpret verbal or written instructions and work independently to complete jobs from set up to final inspection
  • Assembly of mechanical and electrical components
  • Following electrical/mechanical schematics to wire assemblies
  • Mechanical assembly of parts from shop drawing
  • Tube bending and fitting for hydraulics/electrical/process equipment


Requirements:

 

  • 3-5 years experience in a fast-paced fabrication environment
  • 3-5 years experience programming/operating CNC machines
  • Practical exam will be required prior to employment to ensure ability to program and operate machines
  • Experience with HAAS mills and Fanuc lathe controls preferred
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute machining projects from print/model to part, including planning, programming, machine setup, and machine operation
  • Ability to maintain high tolerances and finishes in produced parts
  • Experience machining a wide range of materials from hardened tool steels to plastics (i.e. tool steels, pre-hardened steels, stainless steels, low carbon steels, aluminum, plastics, copper, and brass)
  • Experience operating heavy machinery, such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and manlifts is a plus
  • Ability to weld highly preferred
  • Ability to perform basic electrical work preferred
  • Familiarity with construction/assembly of industrial control panels is a plus
